Generic name: Mupirocin calcium hydrate Manufactured by: GlaxoSmithKline Description Effects of this medicine This medicine inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and exhibits antibacterial activity by inhibiting the production of RNA synthetase. It eradicates methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in the nasal cavity by intranasal application. It is usually used to prevent the development of disease in infected patients and transmission by eradicating MRSA through administration of this medicine to immune-compromised patients (compromised patients) with MRSA in their nasal cavities, inpatients who cannot be isolated from compromised patients, and health-care professionals who have contact with compromised patients.
Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Take measures to prevent MRSA infection, such as gargling and hand-wash. If you miss a dose, apply the missed dose as soon as possible. Then follow your regular dosing schedule.
